I loved this song when I was a kid and over 50 year's later I'm lounging in my recliner very late in the evening and this song popped into my head and I looked it up and came to your channel and I've listened to it at least three times! At the time she didn't have a record on Billboard's Top 100, but nine days later on Feb. 24th her "Do The Bird" entered the chart at position #65, six weeks later it would peak at #10 {for 2 weeks} and it spent eleven weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #8 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart...
"Do The Bird" was her fifth straight Top 10 record, started with "Mashed Potato Time"** {#2 for 2 weeks in 1962}, "Slow Twistin'" {a duet with Chubby Checker, #3 in 1962}, "Gravy (For My Mashed Potatoes)" {#9 in 1962}, "Ride!" {#5 in 1962}, and finally "Do The Bird"...
