1968 y el disco Acid de Ray Barretto fue un parteaguas de lo que venía haciendo hasta ahí. Aquí ya se metió muy de lleno en lo que se llamó Latin Soul. Adalberto Santiago cantó un par de números en el disco pero en español, máximo un boogaloo muy onda cubana y una Salsa con todas las de ley. Pete Bonet fue el cantante para estos números muy inspirados por el soul de James Brown (que ya iba a empezar a mutar más y más hacia lo que se conoce como Funk)... Adalberto no cantaba en inglés y le gustaban The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, pero esto ya era más extremo. Sin duda que Adalberto reconoce el genio y el ritmo pro africano de James Brown, pero no estaba dentro de sus posibilidades el cantar este tipo de número... Acid es un disco de culto (crea mucha curiosidad hasta ahora)...
